POI International Center for Epidemiology and Biostatistics

The Preventive Oncology International Center for Epidemiology and Biostatistics is located in Chicago, Illinois and directed by Suzanne Belinson PhD.  Dr. Suzanne Belinson has worked with Jerome Belinson MD since 1997, and has had continuing  involvement in all  major POI international research projects.

Dr. S. Belinson’s responsibilities include initial evaluation of sites for studies, particularly from an epidemiologic point of view. Along with international collaborators, Dr. S. Belinson provides insight into potential locations and works with principal investigators to determine feasibility based upon current epidemiologic data.

Once sites are selected, Dr. Belinson collaborates with the principal investigator to determine appropriate sample size and study design.  She ensures that epidemiologic data are collected and incorporated into the research when appropriate.  Dr. Belinson also consults on CRF creation to allow for ease of data collection and accurate entry.

The POI center for Epidemiology and Biostatistics serves as the primary quality control agency for the research projects.  Data is double entered on site and sent directly to Dr. S. Belinson for review. Discrepancies area identified and sites are querried from her office for resolution.  Responsibility for the final database accuracy and statistical analysis rests with the Center and it’s statistical consultants.
