Mission

Mission

Preventive Oncology International is dedicated to blending humanitarian care with scientific discovery. Our mission: to conduct research and provide education while working toward the prevention and early detection of cancer. We work in under-served areas of the world where cancer is particularly prevalent, providing screening and treatment to people who otherwise may never have access to this care.

POI Projects

POI provides cervical cancer screening to women throughout the world while conducting medical research on early detection and prevention. We currently work at various project sites from China to Peru.

Learn About Our Projects

PLEASE REVIEW OUR PAST TWENTY YEARS, WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF THE WORK WE HAVE DONE AND THE COMMUNITIES WE HAVE REACHED WORLD-WIDE.

POI provides cervical cancer screening to women throughout the world while conducting investigator initiated medical research on early detection and prevention.  We develop, test and evaluate new methods of making cervical cancer testing more accurate and more reliable, as well as cheaper and easier to use.

Current methods of testing are costly and require a complex medical infrastructure in order to successfully detect cervical cancer and pre-cancers. In underserved populations around the world, the infrastructure and support does not exist, so women go through life without ever getting screened, which leads to late detection of cancer and subsequent unnecessary deaths.
